HUC Virtual Research Internships 2024 – Invitation to professors!
Virtual research internships are an excellent opportunity to foster scientific collaboration and international academic experiences. The Hemispheric University Consortium (HUC) provides an ideal platform to connect professors and students from HUC universities across the continent.
Following our positive experience since 2021, we want to invite professors from all disciplines to this fourth edition of our program, hosting students in virtual research internships that are targeted to start around August or September 2024.
Invitation to professors: host virtual research internships of HUC students!
This is an invitation for professors and lead researchers that want to host virtual research internships during the second semester of the year.

In the online form, you will be able to:
- Specify if you have preferred dates during the second semester of 2024 for the internships.
- Specify the desired or required skills, academic level and specific knowledge a student should have.
- Provide a description for your project.
- Provide additional resources to promote your project and invite students.
The selected professors and their projects will be showcased online, and we will invite students from HUC universities to apply to these internships.
Characteristics of the HUC virtual research internships 2024
- Virtual research internships starting between August and September, 2024, with flexible ending dates.
- Both for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Open to all areas of knowledge.
- Flexible dates and weekly workload, depending on the professors’ availability and institutional regulations. (Note: when defining the workload, please consider that, due to the virtual format, it is normal that students have additional courses at their respective home university. Weekly workloads above 12 hours are not recommended, although this can be defined and discussed later with the students).
- Recommended length: minimum 8 weeks, but flexibility is encouraged.
- Ideally beneficial for both professors and students (relevant topics and projects).
Timeline for 2024:
March 21 – April 14: Invitation to professors.
April 15 – April 26: Review of professor’s proposals at each university; approval of the proposals and conditions.
April 29 – June 7: Invitation to students.
June 10 – July 5: Approval of the students’ applications by their home universities; evaluation and selection of candidates.
July 8 – July 31: Formal registration of students at the host university, administrative tasks.
Approx. August – December (with flexibility): Research internships.
